Hayrack Ride, Storytelling, & S’mores at Arbor Day Farm
Weekends this fall through Lied Lodge & Conference Center – the entire family will enjoy a mash-up of Arbor Day Farm’s most beloved fall season activities: hayrack rides, cider, s’mores and storytelling!
On Friday and Saturday evenings now thru Nov. 11, climb aboard a hayrack at the Lied Lodge lobby. Travel to Arbor Day Farm’s Morton Oak tree, where you’ll sip hot apple cider, make s’mores, and enjoy tales from a storyteller, and then return to Lied Lodge.
Tickets are $15.00+ tax for adults; $10+ tax for children, age 3-12. Seating is limited on the hayrack, and this activity often sells out. To reserve your seat, please call Lied Lodge at 800-546-5433.

Dog Days of Summer @ Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast
Come dogs. Come owners. Come all!
Join us as we host our first Dog Days of Summer!
Bring your furry pal and enjoy an afternoon of fun, games and good eats!
All are welcome dog owner or not we will have a dog-on good time!
A gourmet hot dog bar featuring Fairbury Hot Dogs, the Hot Dog of Husker Nation!
We’ll have an obstacle course, potato sack races (humans in the sack with dogs on their leash), a human/dog look-a-like contest, prizes and more!
Bring your lawn chair and dip your toes in our kiddy pools.
For your entertainment, local Nebraska City native, Honey Lynn Self, will be working on a dog painting as she showcases her painting skills right before your eyes. She will have other pieces available for purchase.
Honey is a self-taught artist working mostly with acrylics, but sometimes oils, and specializes in landscape painting, abstract painting, and animal portraits.
Bring your old towels, sheets and blankets and we’ll donate them to the local vets!
Tickets
$15 Tickets – Gourmet Hot Dog bar, chips and puppy chow dessert (1 full hot dog). We’ll give you two halves so you can try different toppings. Plus, a treat for your pup!
*Additional half dogs and trips through the bar are available for purchase.

Kids 5 – 12 $7 tickets – 1 full dog with basic toppings
Kids under 5 Free – ½ dog

- Pet must be on a leash and attended at all times

10 Year Anniversary Celebration
Owner, Jeanna Stavas, says, “This event is not about me but an opportunity to thank everyone that has supported me through the years; my family and friends, guests and patrons, partners and the surrounding communities and Nebraska City. It was only with all of these people that this business has been a success. It was a crazy idea I had to leave my corporate technology job and pursue a new endeavor/career where I was able to enjoy my passion of people and food! It’s been an exciting 10 years and I can’t wait to see what the future holds! We hope you can join us!”

**A patio of memories will be created from pavers donated and signed by guests that they can come visit for years to come.
**Jeanna enjoys teaching about food and the joy it can bring so searched for a way to give back to the community with a focus on food. A raffle will be held with all proceeds going towards local food projects such as the food pantry, backpack program and a kids cooking camp to be taught by Jeanna this winter. Local partners were willing to donate some fantastic items to support both the event and the giveaways. Thank you to KR Creative, Table Creek Golf Club, Mary Pargett Photography, Cargill and Fareway and many, many others!
There is no cover charge. Pizza, wine and frozen pops will be available for sale. We encourage you to bring your own picnic blanket and lawn chairs. Some tables, chairs and blankets are available, but are limited in number.
Kimmel Orchard Cherry Festival
On June 29-30, Kimmel Orchard will be hosting their annual Cherry Festival! This day will kick off at 9 AM and will be a great destination for you and your family.
Our U-Pick will be open and our cherry trees will be full of fresh produce ready to be picked by you and your family. Enjoy a nice hayrack ride to and from the orchard and explore our brand new Tree Dome nature trail while you are out there as well. This is a great way to gain the full experience of the orchard, and you’ll even see the 170-year-old Eastern Cottonwood tree!
Our Pollinator Playground will be open to all who come to Cherry Festival as well. This is a two playground set provides enough equipment for all age groups to come and enjoy!
The Kimmel Kitchen will be open to provide meals, snacks and beverages throughout the day.
Our bar will be open serving beer, wines and hard ciders as well. You will also be able to do wine and hard cider tastings to figure out your favorites to take home! All of the wines and hard ciders sold in the Apple Barn are made with the fruits that have been hand-picked right here at Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard!
A LIVE band will be here during the Cherry Festival to provide entertainment for our guests.
