Sunflower Bloom at Arbor Day Farm

It’s a summertime tradition… Sunflowers in Bloom at Arbor Day Farm!

Come and see one of nature’s best shows. Bring your camera and grab a seat aboard the Discovery Ride for a memorable visit to Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure. Discovery Rides are Monday through Friday at 1:00 p.m. and on weekends at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The bloom typically occurs in early- to mid-August and lasts about two weeks depending on weather. Garden Tea at Arbor Lodge Mansion

Join us in the garden of Arbor Lodge Mansion for a Garden Tea celebration. Wear your favorite summer hat and frock and sip on refreshing flavored teas and summer treats from the garden. Special summer programming to be announced. In addition to the tea, participants can embark on a self-guided tour of the mansion. If Mother Nature is uncooperative, we’ll gather in the Mansion’s sunroom. 

 

Reservations for the tea are required by July 23 and can be made by calling 402-873-7222. Cost is $18 per person and includes your mansion admission and entrance to the tea.

 

Mother’s Day Tea at Arbor Lodge Mansion

Celebrate Mother’s Day during a special tea presented in the beautiful sunroom of Arbor Lodge Mansion. Enjoy an assortment of teas and tasty selections, while learning about the strong and amazing women of Arbor Lodge. In addition to the tea, participants can embark on a self-guided tour of the mansion. China painting demonstrations and special music will also be offered throughout the weekend.

WWI Exhibit & Vintage Flags Display at Arbor Lodge Mansion

Join us Memorial Day Weekend at Arbor Lodge Mansion for a special display featuring vintage American flags of the Arbor Lodge collection. Hayrack Ride, Storytelling, & S’mores at Arbor Day Farm

Weekends this fall through Lied Lodge & Conference Center – the entire family will enjoy a mash-up of Arbor Day Farm’s most beloved fall season activities: hayrack rides, cider, s’mores and storytelling!

On Friday and Saturday evenings, Sept. 22 thru Nov. 11, climb aboard a hayrack at the Lied Lodge lobby. Travel to Arbor Day Farm’s Morton Oak tree, where you’ll sip hot apple cider, make s’mores, and enjoy tales from a storyteller, and then return to Lied Lodge.

Celebrating Chautauqua at Arbor Lodge

Circuit Chautauqua first came to Nebraska City in 1907. This year, it returns June 21-24, featuring guest speakers and entertainment at various locations around the community. The theme for this year’s Nebraska Chautauqua is “World War One: Legacies of a Forgotten War.” In addition to the community’s Chautauqua celebration (presented by Humanities Nebraska and the Nebraska City Chautauqua committee), Arbor Lodge will host additional activities including historical displays and entertainment June 24-25.

Take a springtime stroll through the woods for family-friendly games, plus a leisurely seek-and-find egg hunt. Children will enjoy chicks, bunnies, ducks, and lambs at the Tree Adventure. Easter activities included with regular Tree Adventure admission. The Tree Adventure is open Easter Saturday, 9am–5pm; Easter Sunday, 12pm–4pm.

Sip Arbor Day Farm wines and shop for flavorful jams, jellies, salsas, and more. The Pie Garden Cafe is also open for apple pie and other tasty treats.  Open Easter Saturday, 9am-5pm; Easter Sunday, 12pm-4pm.

At Arbor Lodge State Historical Park:
Enjoy a close-up look at the life and legacy of J. Sterling Morton, the founder of Arbor Day. The mansion is open for self-guided tours; admission is $7/adults; $4 youth (age 3-12). Arbor Lodge mansion is open Easter Saturday, 9am–5pm; Easter Sunday, 1pm–4pm.
