Arbor Lodge Doll Tea Party

Enjoy tea-time at Arbor Lodge in the beautiful sunroom. Feel free to bring your favorite doll or stuffed animal to also enjoy the event! The tea will include a variety of small savories as well as hot and cold brewed tea. The Doll Tea will be offered at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Mystery at the Mansion – Clueless Murder

Family, friends, business associates, and servants are gathered at Arbor Lodge Mansion for the Reading of the Will. Well-known Millionaire, Mr. Boddy, died under suspicious circumstances, but his killer has yet to be brought to justice! The gathering may even result in another murder! Was it Mrs. White in the conservatory with the candlestick? Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with the cleaver? Or perhaps Professor Plum in the parlor with the poison? As one of the deceased’s confidants or family members, you can help piece together the crimes.

Mystery at the Mansion – Murder Among Mateys

After a voyage filled with pillaging and plundering, the Jaded Jewel – Arbor Lodge Mansion turned pirate ship – is docked in a cove near Port Royal. The ship is captained by the dreaded Redbeard. As the pirates head into town to celebrate their homecoming and spend their gold, a night of turmoil and trouble is sure to transpire. As the night quickly steers out of control, one guest meets a tragic demise. Is the culprit the profiteering pirate organizing a mutiny? Or, the saucy sea mistress? Could the perpetrator be the swashbuckling swordsman desperate to win the love of the governor’s daughter? Be among those who help get the guilty person to the gallows or walking the plank!

History of Bicycles & Picnics

In conjunction with the Radler Bicycle Festival (June 18-19) and International Picnic Day (June 18), Arbor Lodge is hosting a special History of Bicycles and Picnics Display. Learn about the early history of bicycles through photographs, displays, and newspaper articles, as well as the late 19th century bicycle clubs and races throughout Nebraska. It’s also the perfect opportunity to uncover the history of picnics and picnic baskets. Feel free to pack a picnic, enjoy a stroll through the park, and enjoy several yard games (including croquet, yard darts, checkers, and bocce ball), which will be available to play on the front lawn of Arbor Lodge.

This temporary exhibit includes historic photographs and biographies of the Morton women, as well as needlework linens and other handmade items that showcase the skills women used to beautify their homes over the years.

Celebrate the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day right here where it all began – Arbor Lodge in Nebraska City! Check out the 52-room mansion for FREE today, courtesy of the Arbor Day Foundation.

Take a self-guided tour of this magnificent home and learn about the history of Arbor Day. Experience the Women of Arbor Lodge display in a recently opened area of the mansion. Get a peek into spring planting on the Morton Farm and view vintage post cards of Arbor Lodge.

The park grounds are open as well and are a beautiful place for walking, exploring, and learning. There is no cost for park entry.

Baskets and Blankets | Arbor Lodge Centennial Celebration

Celebrate an autumnal ode to parks and picnics! Show off your creative talents with daring designs, fancy flatware, unique flower arrangements, and a penchant for creature comforts with a stunning picnic spread for an entertaining evening at Arbor Lodge mansion.

Prizes: Two chances to win! All registrants are automatically entered into a raffle to win a picnic for 2 ($180 value) that can be redeemed for a date night in Omaha, courtesy of Pic’d on Purpose. Each picnic is unique in style & exact location and carefully chosen for scenery & comfort. Set-up and clean-up included. Then, on the day of the event, check in at the registration table on-site to receive your judging number. Contest set-up is from 5:30pm-6:30pm, judging begins at 7:30pm, winner announced at 8:30pm. The judges will be looking for tablescapes that incorporate natural themes reflecting the beauty of Nebraska’s parks in autumn known for crisp air, fall foliage, abundant wildlife, and fun family traditions, as well as creative and innovative ways of using the outdoor space. You can bring your own food for your picnic, or preorder meals here online. You choices include:

The Morton Family Goes to the Fair – Arbor Lodge

“Come to the Fair” at Arbor Lodge Mansion, and get a glimpse of the Morton family’s involvement in the organization of Nebraska’s territorial, county, and state fairs. There’s no better place to celebrate Arbor Day than at the very spot where it all began – Arbor Lodge in Nebraska City! Check out the 52-room mansion for FREE all weekend long, April 30-May 2, courtesy of the Arbor Day Foundation.

Take a self-guided tour of this magnificent home and learn about the history of Arbor Day. Experience the grand opening of the Women of Arbor Lodge display in a newly restored and newly opened area of the mansion. Get a peek into spring planting on the Morton Farm and view vintage post cards of Arbor Lodge.

The park grounds are open as well and are a beautiful place for walking, exploring, and learning. There is no cost for park entry.

National Quilting Day Celebration

National Quilting Day is March 20!

To celebrate, Arbor Lodge Mansion will host a special exhibit featuring quilts from the Arbor Lodge collection. Learn about the history of quilting and see how a once utilitarian craft has evolved into a true art form. Members of the Heritage Needlework Guild will offer demonstrations throughout the weekend. Adults and children will enjoy creating quilted make-and-take activities.

In addition, award-winning, best-selling novelist Stephanie Grace Whitson will join us for a special presentation on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Author of The Shadow on the Quilt, Whitson will utilize quilts, blocks, and quilt tops from her personal collection to pay tribute to our pioneer foremothers. Her presentation includes readings from pioneer women’s diaries, reminiscences, and unpublished archival papers. Whitson will be available for signings and to visit with guests throughout Saturday and Sunday.

September 26 & 27 is the 6th Annual Table Creek Rendezvous comes to Arbor Lodge grounds for a Mountain Man era encampment complete with demonstrations. Displays inside the mansion will recount Rendezvous history as well as tell the story of the Morton Orchard.

Join us for an evening of murder and mayhem in the Wild West as Arbor Lodge Mansion transforms into the Deadwood Saloon. It’s an old-fashioned whodunnit in a magnificent setting! Solve clues, look for evidence, and break the case while mingling with new friends.

Sunflower Bloom at Arbor Day Farm

It’s a summertime tradition… Sunflowers in Bloom at Arbor Day Farm!

Come and see one of nature’s best shows. Bring your camera and grab a seat aboard the Discovery Ride for a memorable visit to Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure. Discovery Rides are Monday through Friday at 1:00 p.m. and on weekends at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The bloom typically occurs in early- to mid-August and lasts about two weeks depending on weather. Join us in the garden of Arbor Lodge Mansion for a Garden Tea celebration. Wear your favorite summer hat and frock and sip on refreshing flavored teas and summer treats from the garden. Special summer programming to be announced. In addition to the tea, participants can embark on a self-guided tour of the mansion. If Mother Nature is uncooperative, we’ll gather in the Mansion’s sunroom.

Celebrate Mother’s Day during a special tea presented in the beautiful sunroom of Arbor Lodge Mansion. Enjoy an assortment of teas and tasty selections, while learning about the strong and amazing women of Arbor Lodge. In addition to the tea, participants can embark on a self-guided tour of the mansion. China painting demonstrations and special music will also be offered throughout the weekend.
