Pioneers of many ethnic origins traveled their way to Nebraska. Join us September 23 and 24 as we celebrate the rich heritage of our ancestors with demonstrations and displays including vintage farm equipment, rag dolls, kitchen gadgets, and frontier education.

“Come to the Fair” at Arbor Lodge, home of J. Sterling Morton, and get a glimpse of the Morton family’s involvement in the organization of the Nebraska Territorial and State Fairs. Circuit Chautauqua first came to Nebraska City in 1907. This year, it returns June 21-24, featuring guest speakers and entertainment at various locations around the community. The theme for this year’s Nebraska Chautauqua is “World War One: Legacies of a Forgotten War.” In addition to the community’s Chautauqua celebration (presented by Humanities Nebraska and the Nebraska City Chautauqua committee), Arbor Lodge will host additional activities including historical displays and entertainment June 24-25.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of America’s entry into World War I. Arbor Lodge will pay tribute by hosting a special display including information on Nebraska City World War I veterans; a display of World War I photographs, uniforms and memorabilia; and reproductions of World War I era sheet music.
Vintage American flags of the Arbor Lodge collection will also be on display throughout the mansion, as well as information on Morton family veterans. For more information, call 402-873-7222.
