Arbor Day Farm is excited to announce interdisciplinary artist, educator, musician, and producer Jayson Fann from Big Sur, California will be at the Tree Adventure during the week of Arbor Day. On Tuesday, Jayson will begin building a playable drum from a tree that fell on the farm last year. Watch as he works throughout the week and learn about his artistic process and what it means to use natural materials to create art and music.
Jayson has created similar drums and more than fifty spirit nests across the U.S. His work in both music and sculpture has been featured in the numerous magazines and articles. His residencies and exhibitions are centered on creating interactive arts and cultural collaborations that foster environmental, intercultural literacy, value, dialogue, and awareness.

We can’t wait to bang the drum about the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day and 50th anniversary of the Arbor Day Foundation! And who better to help us do that than Omaha Street Percussion! Join them for two performances (12pm and 2pm) at the Tree Adventure on Saturday, April 30. You’ll find them in the Nature Explore Classroom creating rhythmic sounds using nature’s instruments and any other unorthodox forms of percussion they can find or bring along. Junior Arborists are important people who know a lot about trees and their impact on our world. They play in the trees. They learn about trees. Sometimes, they even hug trees! Sound like you? Then head to the Tree Adventure during Arbor Day Weekend, and get ready to learn, explore, have fun, and earn your own Arbor Day Farm Junior Arborist badge. You’ll meet a Nature Interpreter to get started and be given your own activity booklet. Complete the number of activity pages for the age you are currently, and you’ll earn your badge. Perfect for kids age 5-12.
