Arbor Day Virtual Celebration at Arbor Day Farm

The Tree Adventure and Arbor Lodge Mansion are temporarily closed to help protect the wellbeing of our guests, staff, and community. But we can each still celebrate Arbor Day in our own way.

For us at Arbor Day Farm, it means taking our celebration to our Facebook and Instagram pages (@arbordayfarm). April 22-26, we will share a series of videos from the farm that highlight our favorite areas and activities. Please follow our pages and watch for new videos at 11 am and 3 pm each day. But more than anything, make a point to get outside, spend time in nature, and consider the positive impact of trees in our world.

Visit celebratearborday.com for additional resources and information about how to celebrate Arbor Day 2020 in this time of social distancing. And please remember, the Arbor Day Farm and Arbor Lodge State Historical Park grounds outside the attractions remain open to the public and are a great spot for getting outside and celebrating nature.

Arbor Day Fly-In & Breakfast

The Nebraska City Jaycees will be hosting their Annual Arbor Day Fly-In & Breakfast April 28.  They will be serving pancakes, ham, juice and coffee from 8-noon at the Nebraska City Airport (5 miles south of Nebraska City). All proceeds go back to the community and the area youth.  Come enjoy breakfast, atmosphere, the airplanes, and much more. Breakfast will be served rain or shine.

Arbor Day 2018 at Arbor Day Farm

It was on this property in 1872 that J. Sterling Morton and his wife, Caroline, initiated their vision for a greener, more tree-filled world—a challenge to people everywhere to plant trees so desperately needed. It is estimated that nearly one million trees were planted in Nebraska on the first Arbor Day, April 10, 1872.

Celebrate this special day where it all began! Explore the original grounds and visit the family’s 52-room mansion, Arbor Lodge. The property includes an arboretum, Italian terraced garden, log cabin, carriage house, walking trails, more than 200 varieties of lilacs, and a charming whispering bench.

The Arbor Lodge State Historical Park grounds are open year-round; a park permit is not required to enter. The mansion is open beginning March 29, Monday-Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m.-4 p.m. Admission is $8/adults; $6/ages 3-12; free for kids 2 and under.

And join us for a full weekend of activities across Arbor Day Farm.
