Get Outdoors Day at Arbor Day Farm

Started in 2008, National Get Outdoors Day is intended to inspire and motivate Americans to get outside for a “healthy, fun day of outdoor adventure.” And there’s no better place to do that than at Arbor Day Farm!

Tree Adventure – Spend the day playing in the trees, go tree climbing, check out binoculars for an up-close view of nature, and take part in our popular gnome hunt. It’s all included with your Tree Adventure admission.

Arbor Lodge Mansion – Pack a picnic, enjoy a stroll through the park, and take a turn at several yard games (including croquet, yard darts, checkers, and bocce ball) on the front lawn. Admission to Arbor Lodge State Historical Park is free.

In celebration of International Tabletop Game Day (June 3), Arbor Lodge will host fun and games for the whole family. Various historic games will be set up throughout the mansion for you to enjoy. Learn the history behind such games as Mansion of Happiness, Checkers, Dominos, Fox and Geese, Tic-Tac-Toe, Tiddlywinks, and many more. The Morton’s valued family time together, and their journals include accounts of games and entertainment they enjoyed. Sitting down with family members and friends to enjoy a board game or cards is proven to help build relationships and memories.

Oktoberfest Celebration at Arbor Day Farm

Nothing says fall quite like Oktoberfest, and you’re invited to share in the fun at Arbor Day Farm’s Historic Barns on Sunday, October 8, from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Enjoy authentic German foods along with seasonal beers. Dance to polka music from the Sheelytown 4. Play horseshoes and other yard games and get in the fall season spirit.

Cover charge is $5 per person; Otoe County residents, show your ID and get in free of charge. Beer tickets available for purchase at the door for those age 21 and up.

Living History Weekend – Great American Pastimes & Vintage Baseball at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park

Step back in time to see historic trades, talents, and other demonstrations come alive inside the mansion and out on the beautiful grounds of Nebraska City’s National Historic Landmark.

Visit Arbor Lodge State Historical Park on October 15 & 16, for Great American Pastimes from 11am-4pm. Enjoy fun the old-fashioned way with parlor games and entertainment, piano music, antique kitchen gadgets, yard games, cider pressing, and dancing horses.  Vintage Baseball games on Sunday afternoon at 1pm and 2:30pm, featuring the Topeka Westerns and Shawnee Baseball Club.
