Reindeer Chase at the Tree Adventure

Santa’s reindeer are lost inside the Tree Adventure, and we need your help to find them! Join with family and friends in a fun-for-all ages scavenger hunt to discover where the reindeer are hiding along the Tree House Trail. Then use our special mailbox to send a letter to Santa to let him know where to find his reindeer in time for his Christmas ride!

Activity is available during regular hours November 27 through December 23 and is included with your Tree Adventure admission. Purchase Tree Adventure tickets in advance here.

All Dolled Up: 100 Years of Victorian Dolls

Come see a rare display of Victorian and vintage dolls and furniture at Wildwood Historic Center. Dolls on display span 100 years from the early 1870’s to the 1970’s, including our Dolly Madison doll and Mrs. Beasley from the popular TV show “Family Affair” in the 1960’s. We have baby dolls from the 20’s – 50’s as well as several foreign dolls from Japan, Vietnam, and Korea. We have over 30 dolls and strollers, chairs, beds, a sleigh and a tea table with a tea set! We also are having a doll giveaway. There are 4 wedding themed dolls from the 1940’s that we will be having a drawing for.

Four lucky people will win a treasure. Enter to win your very own doll!

Strings & Things

“Strings and Things” performs a variety of musical styles including bluegrass, gospel, classical, Irish, renaissance, wedding, world music, traditional American dance and holiday music. They have performed for countless conventions, parties, banquets, barn dance, hoedowns, hayrack rides, county fairs, festivals, museums, schools, churches, etc. They also specialize in audience participation with items including washtub bass, washboard, musical spoons and clog dancing puppets.

Get Outdoors Week featuring a Gnome Hunt – Tree Adventure

Time to turn off your phones and devices and head outside for some fresh air and fun! Join us at the Tree Adventure and take a hike to find the gnomes hidden along the trails. At Arbor Lodge Mansion:

Junior Arborist Program

Junior Arborists are important people who know a lot about trees and their impact on our world. They play in the trees. They learn about trees. Sometimes, they even hug trees! Sound like you? Then head to the Tree Adventure during Arbor Day Weekend, and get ready to learn, explore, have fun, and earn your own Arbor Day Farm Junior Arborist badge. You’ll meet a Nature Interpreter to get started and be given your own activity booklet. Complete the number of activity pages for the age you are currently, and you’ll earn your badge. Perfect for kids age 5-12.

There is no cost for this program and most activities can be completed without Tree Adventure admission. Available Saturday 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Tree Planting Art Project

There’s no better way to celebrate Arbor Day than with a little tree planting! And we’re here to help you do just that! Join us in the Hero Gallery at the Tree Adventure where you can decorate a container and then plant a seedling to take home.

Holiday Trolley Tour of Lights at Lied Lodge

Back by popular demand — it’s the Holiday Trolley Tour of Lights in Nebraska City.

Weekends this holiday season, climb aboard the Arbor Day Farm trolley for a one-hour tour of Historic Nebraska City and the best show of Christmas lights.

The trolley departs the Lied Lodge lobby at 6:00 p.m. sharp and returns approximately one hour later.

Price is $15.00 + tax for adults; $10 + tax for children age 3-12. Those under 3 ride for free. This popular activity fills up quickly, so reserve your seats on the holiday trolley by calling Lied Lodge: 402-873-8733.

Treetop Village at Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure

Opening Weekend – September 7–8

Three acres up in the trees, 11 treehouses, all connected with elevated bridges and walkways. The one-of-a-kind, fun-for-all-ages Treetop Village will spark imagination and joyful laughter in everyone.

Make your way from treehouse to treehouse without ever touching the ground. Bounce sky-high on the giant WonderNet (the first in North America) and race down a 50-foot slide. It’s fun for hours. Then round out your day with a stay at Lied Lodge.

Come and see one of nature’s best shows. Bring your camera and grab a seat aboard the Discovery Ride for a memorable visit to Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure. Discovery Rides are Monday through Friday at 1:00 p.m. and on weekends at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The bloom typically occurs in early- to mid-August and lasts about two weeks depending on weather. Smokey Bear’s 75th Birthday Celebration at Arbor Day Farm

Smokey Bear is turning 75 this year, and we want to celebrate! Smokey himself will be joining us along with Nebraska City Firefighters for photo opportunities and a chance to see a Big Red Firetruck! On June 29, the state Fire Marshall’s crew will also be on hand with their smoke trailer to let children practice fire safety in a safe, but realistic environment.

Enjoy a birthday treat at the Apple House Market, and explore the history of Smokey Bear through a special exhibit at Arbor Lodge Mansion. At the Tree Adventure, learn about important work the Arbor Day Foundation is doing in reforestation, plus make a Smokey Bear craft and collect fun giveaways. Free with admission.

Kimmel Orchard Cherry Festival

On June 29-30, Kimmel Orchard will be hosting their annual Cherry Festival! This day will kick off at 9 AM and will be a great destination for you and your family.

Our U-Pick will be open and our cherry trees will be full of fresh produce ready to be picked by you and your family. Enjoy a nice hayrack ride to and from the orchard and explore our brand new Tree Dome nature trail while you are out there as well. This is a great way to gain the full experience of the orchard, and you’ll even see the 170-year-old Eastern Cottonwood tree!

Our Pollinator Playground will be open to all who come to Cherry Festival as well. This is a two playground set provides enough equipment for all age groups to come and enjoy!

The Kimmel Kitchen will be open to provide meals, snacks and beverages throughout the day.

Our bar will be open serving beer, wines and hard ciders as well. You will also be able to do wine and hard cider tastings to figure out your favorites to take home! All of the wines and hard ciders sold in the Apple Barn are made with the fruits that have been hand-picked right here at Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard!

A LIVE band will be here during the Cherry Festival to provide entertainment for our guests.

International Picnic Day at Arbor Day Farm

Celebrate International Picnic Day on the grounds of Arbor Day Farm. Inside the beautiful Arbor Lodge Mansion, learn about the history of picnics and view historic picnic photographs. Several yard games (including croquet, yard darts, checkers, and bocce ball) will be set up on the front lawn of Arbor Lodge for you to play.

 

Bring your own lunch to the Tree Adventure and eat under our towering oak trees. Then enjoy a special treat from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at the fire pit and roast a “ladyfinger” biscuit with your choice of toppings. Take part in make-and-take kite making and outdoor games and activities from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Sunset & S’mores at Arbor Day Farm

Climb aboard for a guided, Sunset Discovery Ride as you journey through the orchards and vineyards at Arbor Day Farm. Following the ride, gather ’round for a twilight bonfire complete with make-your-own s’mores.

The Discovery Ride departs at 8:00 p.m. with the bonfire and s’mores following the ride. Cost includes your Tree Adventure admission, your ticket for the Discovery Ride, the bonfire, make-your-own s’mores, and bottled water.

Reservations are required and minimum of 10 participants by 5:00 p.m. for the Sunset & S’mores activity; please call the Tree Adventure at 402-873-8717 to reserve your seat.

Mystery at the Mansion at Arbor Lodge

At the Tree Adventure:

  • Learn how trees “talk” to one another and participate in a Land Art project or make a cork boat to take home with you.
