Letter Writing:

 A Lost Art

When was the last time you got a letter—a real letter—that you knew you’d keep in a safe place? Whether it’s to pass along advice to your children as they grow, or to reconnect a friendship, a handwritten letter is satisfying in a way that email and text will never be. Heartfelt correspondence is truly a gift that keeps on giving. We’ll interweave the philosophical with the personal, take inspiration from both writer and recipient perspectives, and practice with writing prompts. You are encouraged to bring pen and paper (rather than a laptop) and any letters you might be thinking of replying to or ideas already in the works. Starting from scratch? Not a problem! For writers at all levels, including first-timers.

All you need is a pen and paper.

 Possibilities of Collage Writing

Join us for a dinner and a workshop on collage writing.  Workshop led by Robin Rozanski, an artist in residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts. Dinner prepared by Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast.

Possibilities of Collage Writing
Like visual collage, collage writing brings eclectic pieces together to tell a new story or refresh an old one, and can provide a powerful storytelling alternative to traditional formats.

We’ll work in all genres, including fiction, poetry, and micro-essays. Class involves writing prompts, writing time, and discussion of the creative process as you experience it. Great for beginners and advanced writers alike.
