On Friday and Saturday evenings at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 27 thru Nov. 9, climb aboard a hayrack at the Lied Lodge lobby. Travel to Arbor Day Farm’s Morton Oak tree, where you’ll sip hot chocolate and apple cider, enjoy a hot dog, make s’mores, and listen to tales from a storyteller, before returning to Lied Lodge.

Come and see one of nature’s best shows. Bring your camera and grab a seat aboard the Discovery Ride for a memorable visit to Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure. Join us in the garden of Arbor Lodge Mansion for a Garden Tea celebration. Wear your favorite summer hat and frock and sip on refreshing flavored teas and summer treats from the garden. Special summer programming to be announced. In addition to the tea, participants can embark on a self-guided tour of the mansion. If Mother Nature is uncooperative, we’ll gather in the Mansion’s sunroom.
Reservations for the tea are required by July 23 and can be made by calling 402-873-7222. Cost is $18 per person and includes your mansion admission and entrance to the tea.

The hunt is on at Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure. Look high and low as you use a map and solve a series of patriotic clues to find forest gnomes climbing trees and hiding in the underbrush. It’s fun for all ages and abilities!

Smokey Bear is turning 75 this year, and we want to celebrate! Smokey himself will be joining us along with Nebraska City Firefighters for photo opportunities and a chance to see a Big Red Firetruck! On June 29, the state Fire Marshall’s crew will also be on hand with their smoke trailer to let children practice fire safety in a safe, but realistic environment.

Celebrate International Picnic Day on the grounds of Arbor Day Farm. Inside the beautiful Arbor Lodge Mansion, learn about the history of picnics and view historic picnic photographs. Several yard games (including croquet, yard darts, checkers, and bocce ball) will be set up on the front lawn of Arbor Lodge for you to play.
Bring your own lunch to the Tree Adventure and eat under our towering oak trees. Then enjoy a special treat from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at the fire pit and roast a “ladyfinger” biscuit with your choice of toppings. Take part in make-and-take kite making and outdoor games and activities from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Climb aboard for a guided, Sunset Discovery Ride as you journey through the orchards and vineyards at Arbor Day Farm. Following the ride, gather ’round for a twilight bonfire complete with make-your-own s’mores.
The Discovery Ride departs at 8:00 p.m. with the bonfire and s’mores following the ride. Cost includes your Tree Adventure admission, your ticket for the Discovery Ride, the bonfire, make-your-own s’mores, and bottled water.

View special displays of women’s clothing and accessories and a china painting demonstration and enjoy live music throughout the weekend. On Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Arbor Lodge tour hosts will be dressed in period costumes representing four intelligent, brave, and influential women of the Morton family.
